Richard Hemming MW - Singapore

Head of Wine, Asia at 67 Pall Mall

Richard Hemming is a British Master of Wine living in Singapore. His two main roles are as Head of Wine, Asia-Pacific for wine-centric members’ club 67 Pall Mall , and as Editorial Consultant for JancisRobinson.com . Richard started working at 67 Pall Mall in 2020, shortly after he relocated to Singapore. Previously a founding member of the London Club, he is now responsible for ensuring a peerless wine proposition for members across the region.

As a writer and communicator, Richard has contributed to JancisRobinson.com since 2008, amassing nearly 1,000 articles and 30,000 tasting notes that explore every corner of the wine world. Today, he covers wine across Asia and beyond, as well as creating audio and video content. Richard has also been published by the Business Times, Financial Times, Club Oenologique, Decanter, The World Of Fine Wine, Noble Rot and many other titles.

It all started in the UK back in 2001 when Richard applied for a graduate trainee scheme with specialist retailer Majestic Wine. Six years later, he was up to his elbows in fermenting grapes during the notoriously hot 2008 vintage in McLaren Vale. Following that, he spent a year as a viticultural assistant in Kent, before settling into a career as a writer, communicator, educator and consultant. After six years of studying, Richard became a Master of Wine in 2015, one of fewer than 500 in the world today. Outside wine, Richard plays the piano a bit and cooks as much as possible.
